WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgrade rs NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even if they belong to a different gear set.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. They can make use of Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency available to all players, or crests that are more specialized and are consumed during upgrades on specific item levels. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
